STILL LIFE, STITCHED.

‘still life, stitched’  is a series of textile sculptures that begins where most objects end.

The everyday objects that pass through a life — used, broken, discarded without a second thought — are wrapped, patched, and hand-embroidered in reclaimed fabric, stitch by stitch, until something discarded becomes something permanent.

Each sculpture is built entirely from what already exists. The fabric carries its own history — raw cotton from years in fashion design, linen cut from an old tablecloth, a worn pillowcase, outgrown children's clothes. Waste repairing waste.

Nestled among the stitched and broken forms sits a single cherry, made of paper, paint, and polish. Real enough to stop you. Permanent enough to last. Where the objects around it bear the visible marks of time, the cherry is frozen before time can touch it. Transience made permanent.

There is beauty in giving hours of careful stitching to something that asked for none of it: not everything broken should be thrown away, and not everything mended should pretend it was never broken.
